Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 2026

Last updated: March 2026

NaturePins is a community of people who love getting outdoors. These guidelines exist to keep it that way — a welcoming, helpful, and honest space for everyone.

The short version

Be honest. Be kind. Be helpful. Pin places you've actually been to. Write reviews based on your real experience. Treat other explorers the way you'd want to be treated on the trail.

Reviews and photos

Be honest: Your review should reflect your genuine experience. It's fine to say a place was underwhelming, the track was muddy, or the car park was a nightmare. Honest reviews help everyone plan better trips.

Be specific: "Great beach" is fine, but "Calm water, good shade in the afternoon, car park fills up by 10am on weekends" is far more useful to someone planning a visit.

No fake pins: Only pin places you have personally visited. Pinning locations you haven't been to undermines the integrity of the platform and your own collection.

Your own photos: Only upload photos you've taken yourself or have permission to use. Don't upload photos from Google, other people's social media, or stock image sites.

No inappropriate content: Don't upload photos or write reviews containing nudity, graphic content, violence, or anything you wouldn't want a family with kids to see while planning a trip.

Treating each other well

Be respectful: People of all ages, backgrounds, fitness levels, and experience use NaturePins. A gentle walk along a paved boardwalk counts just as much as summiting a peak. Every pin counts.

No harassment: Don't target, bully, stalk, or intimidate other users. Don't leave hostile or personal comments directed at individuals. If someone's review disagrees with yours, that's fine — different people have different experiences.

No hate speech: Content that promotes discrimination, hatred, or violence against any person or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic will be removed and may result in account suspension.

No spam: Don't use reviews, your profile, or lists to promote businesses, products, or services. Mentioning a nearby café because it's genuinely useful context is fine. Writing reviews solely to advertise is not.

Respecting nature and safety

Don't promote dangerous access: If a location requires crossing private property, ignoring closure signs, or accessing restricted areas, don't encourage others to do the same. If an official track is closed, mention the closure rather than suggesting an alternative route around it.

Respect cultural sites: Some natural places have cultural significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Be respectful in your reviews and photos of culturally significant sites. Follow any cultural protocols or access restrictions.

Leave no trace: NaturePins encourages people to get outdoors, and we take that responsibility seriously. Don't promote or celebrate behaviour that damages natural environments — littering, off-track driving, disturbing wildlife, or defacing natural features.

What happens if you break these guidelines

We review reported content and take action based on severity.

Content removal: Reviews, photos, or pins that violate these guidelines may be removed without notice.

Warnings: For minor or first-time issues, we'll reach out and explain what needs to change.

Suspension: Repeated violations or serious breaches (harassment, hate speech, deliberate fraud) may result in temporary or permanent account suspension.

Appeals: If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, contact us at support@naturepins.app. We'll review your case and respond within 14 days.

Reporting

If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report function on the review, photo, or profile in question. You can also email us directly at support@naturepins.app. Reports are reviewed by a human, not automated.

We take reports seriously but also review them fairly. Disagreeing with a negative review is not grounds for removal — honest negative reviews are welcome and protected.

A note on moderation

We're a small team and we won't catch everything instantly. If something slips through, report it and we'll deal with it. We'd rather have a community that self-polices respectfully than one that relies on heavy-handed moderation.

These guidelines may be updated from time to time. We'll notify users of material changes through the app.
